The Foundation Study Center Gerzensee (English: Study Center Gerzensee ) is a foundation of the Swiss National Bank . It was founded in 1984 and has been holding training and further education courses for central bank staff and doctoral students in economics from Germany and abroad since 1986 in the New Gerzensee Castle , which it owns .

As a “cadre forge for central bankers”, the study center enjoys a high reputation in specialist circles around the world. Its director was Ernst Baltensperger until 2009 and since then Dirk Niepelt , both professors of economics at the University of Bern .
