Dirk Niepelt

Dirk Niepelt (born March 27, 1969 in Konstanz ) is a German economist. He lives and teaches in Switzerland.

Niepelt studied at the University of St. Gallen (lic. Oec. And Dr. oec., 1997), worked at the institutes FEW in St. Gallen and KOF of the ETH Zurich and at the European Central Bank (ECB). In 2000 he received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He worked as an assistant professor at the IIES at Stockholm University .

He is director of the Gerzensee study center of the Swiss National Bank and professor at the University of Bern , research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London, member of the research network CESifo Group Munich and member of the macroeconomic committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik . He was active on the board of the Swiss Society for Economics and Statistics . As a visiting professor, he taught at the University of Lausanne and at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University .

His research interests are in the areas of macroeconomics, International Finance (International Finance) , political economy and finance. He publishes and appears in various not only professional media - u. a. Finanz und Wirtschaft , NZZ , SRF .
