Fatai Adeyemo

Fatai Adeyemo (born October 26, 1961 ) is a retired Nigerian table tennis player with an international career in the 1980s and 1990s. He won several medals at African continental tournaments, and he also took part in five world championships and the 1988 Olympic Games .

Career

At the African Championships Fatai Adeyemo reached the semi-finals in the singles in 1985, 1988 and 1994, and he won gold every time with the Nigerian team. In 1994 he was African champion in doubles with Segun Toriola . In 1988 he was second in doubles with Yomi Bankole and in mixed with Kehinde Okenla. Also in 1994 he was in the mixed final with Abiola Olawunmi Odumosu. He was also successful at African Games . Here he won in 1991 , 1995 and 1999 with the team; In 1987 and 1991 he reached the final in doubles with Sule Olaleye, in 1995 he won doubles with Segun Toriola.

From 1985 to 1999 Fatai Adeyemo was nominated five times for world championships , but never came close to medal ranks . In 1988 he qualified for participation in the double competition of the Olympic Games . Here he managed with his partner Yomi Bankole in the group games with six defeats only one win against the Brazilians Carlos Kawai / Cláudio Kano , which means the main round was missed.

In the ITTF world rankings , Fatai Adeyemo was ranked 103rd in mid-1987.
