The former Stutenhof is a historic building in Bad Hindelang .

history

As early as 1529, the Fuggers had set up a horse breeding facility in Hindelang. In 1646 the building was sold by Johann Franz Fugger, Count of Kirchberg and Weißenhorn, to the salt factor Hans Scholl and the captain Hans Lipp. Later - according to a notice board on the building in 1660 - it was rebuilt by Prince-Bishop Sigismund Franz, Archduke of Austria , and in 1666 a separate foal barn was built. In 1753 the farm was converted into a dairy by the order of the bishop. From 1816 to 1827 it was used as a military foal farm. The farm buildings were partially demolished between 1836 and 1840. Remains of the walled farm yard can still be seen on the east side. The building is now privately owned and cannot be visited.

Building

The massive two-storey building is plastered in yellow and bears the coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop and Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt Joseph on the northern side. Behind a double front door there is a hallway with barrel vaults and stitch caps , and in the kitchen there is a cross vault supported by pillars .
