Stylianos G. Kapsomenos

Stylianos Georgiou Kapsomenos , at times also Kapsomenakis ( Greek Στυλιανός Γεωργίου Καψωμένος , also Καψωμενάκης , born November 29, 1907 in Chania ; † May 15, 1978 ) was a Greek Graecist and linguist .

Kapsomenos studied philology at the University of Athens from 1924 to 1928 . He then completed further studies at the University of Pavia . He stayed in Germany for research purposes and worked together with Rudolf Pfeiffer and above all Franz Dölger in Munich as well as with Wilhelm Schubart in Berlin on a grammar of the Greek papyri of the post-Christian era. In 1942 he was appointed research associate at the Academy of Athens . From 1944 to 1973 he held a professorship for ancient Greek philology at the University of Thessaloniki . For many years he was a member of the board of directors of the local Ινστιτούτο Νικολάου Π. Ανδριώτη «Ιστορία της ελληνικής γλώσσας» .
