The Styria Cup was held for the first time in 1969. The idea and implementation for this was done by Kurt Wernbacher . Since then, around 20,000 curlingers from all over the world have taken part in this competition, which is held every year on ice. Every year the venue is Kapfenberg in Austria , the preliminary round is also played in Frohnleiten . The Styria Cup is considered to be the Wimbledon of curling and a recognized world tournament for this sport.
The Styria Cup is a team competition for men and women as well as for mixed teams.
