Sub double bass saxophone

The sub-double bass saxophone is a woodwind instrument . It is the lowest instrument of the saxophone - family voted it in B. As the largest saxophone it is produced only in small numbers. The sound tube has a length of approx. 4.33 meters.

Range : As 2 - e 0 . The so-called "overtones" (see overtones ) can also be used to play in significantly higher registers.

Construction

In contrast to the double bass saxophone, the sub- double bass saxophone is not produced in the classic design, but only in the so-called Tubax design by its inventor Benedikt Eppelsheim . In this design, the tube is wound four times, which results in a relatively compact shape of the instrument and shorter lever paths for actuating the flap. The Tubax design is characterized by a comparatively low air consumption, which is achieved through a relatively narrow scale . The mouthpiece and reed are either adopted from the baritone saxophone or the bass saxophone.
