The sublative is a local case that denotes the movement towards a reference object.

The term sublative for this local case is mainly used in the grammar of Hungarian , where the sublative is marked by the suffix -re / ra .

Examples: hajó- ra "on the ship" ( hajó "ship"), bokor- ra "on the bush" ( bokor "bush").

Etymology: Latin sublatus 'carried up' (meaning 'case of putting up').
