"Sue"

" Sue " is the name for the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago (USA).

The fossil has the inventory number FMNH PR 2081 and is the most complete, best preserved and largest known skeleton of this type of dinosaur . It is named after the American paleontologist Sue Hendrickson , who found it in the US state of South Dakota in 1990 . However, the sex of the animal is indefinite.

The skeleton of this predatory dinosaur , almost 13 meters long and around 4 meters high at the basin, is on permanent display in the Field Museum of Natural History. A replica represents the real skull , as the original is too heavy for the metal framework that supports the skeleton.

The fossilized bones of "Sue" were, like all fossil evidence of Tyrannosaurus rex , embedded in sedimentary rocks from the Maastrichtian , the last stage of the Upper Cretaceous . The time of embedding could be dated to about 67 million years ago .
