Suffix pronouns

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Suffixpronomen is referred to in the Egyptian grammar a special type of pronouns that are appended to the reference word, where they are from their reference word in the transcription usually separated by an equal sign (=). They mainly appear in the following three functions:

  • As an expression of ownership attached to a noun, for example pr = f "his house";
  • as an object of a preposition, r = j "to me";
  • as the subject of certain finite verb forms: the so-called suffix conjugation in pre - Coptic Egyptian, ( sḏm = k "you hear") and the three-part conjugation in Coptic .
