Sugarloaf (ski area)

The Sugarloaf ski resort is located on Sugarloaf Mountain in Franklin County , Maine .

It extends from 432 m above sea level to 1291 m. In the ski area there are 87 km of marked ski slopes of all levels of difficulty, 95% of which can be artificially snowed. 15 lifts (four 4-seater chairlifts, one 3-seater chairlift, eight double chairlifts and two drag lifts) with a transport capacity of up to 21,810 people per hour overcome a total of 859 meters in altitude and bring winter sports enthusiasts to just below the summit of the 1,295 m high Sugarloaf Mountain. The season lasts from mid-November to the end of April.

In February 1971 the ski area hosted world cup races for men and women, and in 1984 it was the venue for the Alpine Junior World Championship . In addition, numerous Nor-Am Cup races were held here and the US championships were often held here.
