from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sultan Amir Ahmad bath house , also known as the Qāsemī bath house ( Hamām-e Soltān Amīr Ahmad ; حمام سلطان امیر احمد) is a historic bath house ( hamam ) in the Iranian city of Kashan . It was built during the Safavid period in the 16th century and destroyed by an earthquake in 1778. It was rebuilt in the Qajar era .

The bathhouse covers an area of 1000 m² and consists of two main areas: the Sarbīneh (changing room) and the Garmkhāneh (the warm bathing hall). The Sarbīneh is a large, octagonal hall, in the middle of which there is an octagonal basin . Eight pillars separate it from the outer area. Four pillars in the Garmkhāneh create four more smaller bathrooms all around and at the same time form the entrance area to the Khazineh , the last bathroom.

The interior of the bathroom is adorned with turquoise and gold-colored tile work and also decorated with stucco , brickwork and paintings. The roof of the bathhouse consists of multiple domes with convex lenses to provide the bath with sufficient light and at the same time provide privacy from the outside.
