Suma Genji ( Japanese 須 磨 源氏 ), Prince Genji in Suma , is the title of a Nō drama, written by Kan'ami Kiyotsugu , edited by Zeami . The piece is a fifth game within the Nō category.

Preliminary remark

The main character is the fictional Prince Genji of the Genji Monogatari . Chapter 12 of the novel tells of his exile to Suma after a love affair with a lady-in-waiting. The real Fujiwara no Okinori (藤原 興 範; 844–917) meets him first as a woodcutter, then as a ghost.
