List of apple varieties |
Summerred is a summer apple .
The variety originated in Canada in the 1960s as a seedling of the Summerland variety.
It no longer plays a role economically today, but is often used as an intermediate refinement for fast-growing varieties or those susceptible to collar rot.
fruit
The tall, dark red to brownish red fruits are medium-sized and ripen in August. They have clearly visible shell points. The flesh is firm and very juicy and has a slightly sour taste. However, the fruits tend to burst if the water intake is irregular.
tree
The tree has a strong growth and branches very well. It is susceptible to fire blight , powdery mildew , apple scab and fruit tree canker and is therefore completely unsuitable for cultivating orchards. The variety also tends to alternate due to heavy curtains .
