Sunkary Badjie ran in the 2013 regional elections in Gambia to elect the Brikama Area Council for the Somita constituency in the Foni Brefet constituency . Since there was no opposing candidate, he won a seat on the regional council.

In the 2017 parliamentary elections , he ran as a candidate for the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) in the Foni Brefet constituency in the West Coast Administrative Region . With 57.66% he was able to win the constituency before Malamin Badjie (UDP) for himself.
