Super Video Recording ( SVR for short ) is a variant of the VCR system , a video tape process for recording television images in CCIR standard 601 plus color (PAL process), which Grundig AG single-handedly brought onto the market in 1978 .

As a special feature, it offered an uninterrupted runtime of more than five hours with very good image quality. However, the devices proved to be prone to repair. Grundig never produced for the USA either, which was the largest market for consumer electronics at the time, so that low-cost mass production was never achieved.

The system was abandoned in 1981, a year and a half after the introduction of the Video 2000 format .
