Superman The Ride in Six Flags New England ( Agawam , Massachusetts , USA ) was the name of a steel roller coaster from the Mega Coaster model manufactured by Intamin , which opened on May 5, 2000 as Superman: Ride of Steel . It drove under this name until 2008. From 2009 to 2015 it drove under the name Bizarro . After another renaming and redesign in 2016, the roller coaster is now in operation under the name Superman The Ride .

It has a 63 m high lift hill , a 67 m high descent and is 1646 m long. In 2003 and 2006 to 2009 it won the Amusement Today Golden Ticket Award five times in the Best Steel Coaster category .

Trains

Superman The Ride has two trains with nine cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car. Passengers must be between 1.37 m and 1.93 m tall to be allowed to ride.

Accidents

  • In 2001 one of the trains did not stop at the end of the journey due to a serious defect in the brakes. As a result, the train collided with another train standing in the station, injuring 22 people.
  • In 2004, a man fell from his seat while driving on the last corner and was killed. The accident happened on the one hand due to the operator's mistake in not correctly checking the safety bar, and on the other hand because of the size of the driver. After the accident, the park equipped the seats with extra metal brackets that encircle the passengers' legs.
