Supreme Court of Texas
The Supreme Court of Texas is the highest court in the US state of Texas . It is the last resort in all disputes related to state law. It is also the Texas barrister's regulator and oversight of the bar association. The Texas Supreme Court is located in Austin .
The court consists of a panel with a chief justice and eight other judges. The judges are each elected for six years. If a seat becomes vacant during that time, the Texas governor may appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term. This replacement must be approved by the Texas Senate . Judges must be at least 35 years old and have previously practiced law as a lawyer or judge for at least ten years.
