Runar Sjåstad

Runar Sjåstad (born August 28, 1968 ) is a Norwegian politician of the social democratic Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2017 .

Life

Sjåstad comes from the northern Norwegian town of Kirkenes and is a trained industrial mechanic. He got involved in the trade union umbrella organization Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO). In 1997 he first moved into the fylkesting of what was then the province of Finnmark . From 2007 to 2017 he worked there as Fylkesordfører .

Sjåstad entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2017 general election . There he represents the Finnmark constituency and became a member of the Energy and Environment Committee. He was also elected Secretary of Parliament.
