action

The arrival of an alien baby catches the attention of the American government. When she discovers it has superpowers, she wants it to be raised to be the perfect patriot and American. All the while, however, the growing boy feels like an outsider; he is avoided.

As a soldier he is used as a secret weapon in wars. At some point he begins to break out of the pattern he has acquired, so that his existence is made public. The American government must now take a position on the fact that such a powerful being has been kept secret for so long, while the young man he is now, under the name of Hyperion, states that he is not completely alone after all. He meets a black man who can run at unbelievable speed and a superhumanly strong woman who can also fly. Meanwhile, one of the men investigating the extraterrestrial materials of the spaceship that Hyperion came with has an accident; an energy crystal burns into his hand. He slowly realizes that he can focus the crystal and its deadly beam.

Meanwhile, Hyperion meets Nighthawk, a black millionaire who slips into his black costume at night and protects the city's blacks from racism. Hyperion draws his attention to the fact that he himself is no better than the white racists, since he only protects blacks from whites, not the other way around and no different. With the look of an alien, i.e. neutral towards all human actions, Hyperion also gets to know the part of the world that has been hidden from him so far. He keeps turning the US government against him.

The man with the branded crystal, Joe Ledger, falls in love with a marine creature whose genetics seem to have been changed from a human baby to that of this aquatic creature by the arrival of Hyperion on Earth. Nighthawk and Stanley Stewart the black sprinter, who founded a team of superheroes with Hyperion, finally come into conflict because Nighthawk is bitter, but Ledger is idealistic and enthusiastic about the crime and therefore doubts Nighthawk's very brutal methods.

Publications

In the English-language original, Supreme Power was released by Marvel from 2003 to 2005. After its end under Marvel's MAX label, the story was continued in Squadron Supreme under the Marvel Knights label and, unlike the MAX stories, was censored. In addition, there is the possibility of crossover between the Supreme Power characters and other Marvel heroes, which is not possible in the MAX-LAbel, as this takes place in a separate "universe".

The series is completely in German and was published within the Marvel MAX series from 2004 in numbers 3, 5 and 8 by Panini Verlag .
