Surfclub Warendorf

The Surfclub Warendorf e. V. is a German water sports club in Warendorf (North Rhine-Westphalia). The Bundesliga team became German champions in 2008.

history

The association emerged from the Surf Interest Community (SIG) founded by Christian Kobisch in 1978 . The founding made it possible to develop the Warendorfer Kottrupsee as a surfing area. In 1980 Kobisch handed over the management to Dietmar Mersmann. In 1986 the community of interests became the Surfclub Warendorf e. V. The association was founded on March 19, 1986 with 13 members. On May 24th, 1986 the first general meeting took place with 94 participants. In 1987 the association had 300 members. In 1989 the club joined the German Sailing Association and took the first club trip to the Veluwemeer in the Netherlands. Two teams started in the Bundesliga West in 1991. In 1997, participation in the Bundesliga West ended for the time being. In 2002, the club formed a Bundesliga team again. In September 2008, the Bundesliga team with Alexander Becker, Malte Kumpf, Stefan Sieme and Yannick Wild became German champions on the Tenderingssee near Dinslaken .
