Surrey Heath is a constituency for the House of Commons in the county of Surrey . The constituency was created in 1997 and covers much of Camberley , Lightwater, and Ash . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency has been represented by members of the Conservative Party since 1997 and is seen as a safe seat .

In the 1997 general election , Nick Hawkins won the seat and served as a member of parliament until 2005. In this election, the future Speaker John Bercow tried to become the candidate of the Tories in Surrey Heath. However, he was put up and elected as a candidate in the Buckingham constituency. Michael Gove has represented Surrey Heath in the House of Commons since the 2005 general election .

In April 2013, the constituency had an unemployment rate of just 1.6%.
