Surya Binayak

Surya Binayak is a Hindu temple in the east of Kathmandu / Nepal in the Bhaktapur district . The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Ganesha , son of Shiva and Parvatis .

The temple is one of four so-called Vinayak temples in the Kathmandu valley . The other three are:

Vinayak and binayak are identical.

The power animal, the rat , is a vehicle ( Vahana ), that is, in the spiritual world it carries Ganesha on its back. A bronze sculpture sits opposite the shrine on a 2.5 meter stone pillar.

The temple is visited by hundreds of Hindus on major holidays. Tourists are rarely seen here.
