Susan "Sue" Jane Pedersen (born October 16, 1953 in Sacramento , California ) is a former American swimmer who won two Olympic gold medals with the relay in 1968.

Sue Pedersen learned to swim at the age of three and later set records in every age group. At the Pan American Games in 1967, Pedersen took second place three times: over 800 meters freestyle and on both individual medley courses. On July 6, 1968, she set a world record in 2: 09.5 minutes on the 200-meter freestyle course.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , she won gold one day after her 15th birthday as the final swimmer of the 4 × 100 meter relay. In the 100 meters freestyle she won silver behind her compatriot Jan Henne . She won silver again in the 200 meter medley, here her compatriot Claudia Kolb won . She was fourth in the 400 meter medley, 0.5 seconds behind bronze. Nine days after her first gold medal, Pedersen won gold with a world record in the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay. She ended her career shortly after the Mexico City Olympics.

Susan Pedersen was inducted into the international swimming pool of fame in 1995 .
