Susann Grünwald-Aschenbrenner

Susann Grünwald (* before 1986) is a German journalist and translator .

Life

Grünwald studied theology at the University of Hamburg. From 1986 to 2000 she worked for the German Press Agency (dpa) as an editor. Together with Dr. Urs P. Aschenbrenner founded the charitable foundation Mittagskinder on November 1st, 2004 in Hamburg , which aims to give socially disadvantaged children better opportunities to shape their lives, and has been chairwoman of the foundation ever since. At two so-called social hot spots in the city, more than 200 Hamburg children are cared for free of charge in the foundation's children's clubs. The Mittagskinder Foundation has been awarding its HELDENHERZ child protection award since 2016.

Awards

  • In 2008 she was named “Hamburger of the Year” for her social commitment.
  • In October 2010 she was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany “for her commitment against child poverty, poverty among adolescents and young adults” .
