Sveakönig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sveakönig ( Swedish Sveakung ) are the names of those Swedish mythical figures who are said to have ruled over an area within the boundaries of today's part of Svealand . The center of power was either in Birka or Alt-Uppsala . Most of these kings are considered non-historical. However, since individual names are identical in different sources such as the Ynglingatal , the epic English heroic poem Beowulf or the Vita Anskarii , their existence is assumed to be probable.
