Sweet Sensation (American band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sweet Sensation were an American R&B / dance band that consisted of female members and featured in the charts between early 1987 and late 1990.

history

Betty LeBron and the two sisters Maria and Margie Fernandez, three New Yorkers of Puerto Rican descent, merged in 1986 as Sweet Temptation . For her in the same year published the first plate Hooked on You named it because of the Temptations in Sweet Sensation order. But since there was already a British band of the same name, they were also known outside of the USA as New York's Sweet Sensation .

When they were first released, they reached number 64 in the US pop charts and were able to maintain their position in these chart regions. They were even more successful in the US dance charts, where Take It While It's Hot reached number 14 and Never Let You Go was number 1 in 1988.

In 1989 Mari left the trio and Sheila Bega joined the remaining two women. With a cover version of the Supremes -Hits Love Child could they advance in early 1990 in the pop charts in the front ranks and even in late summer of that year they had with If Wishes Came True ultimately their biggest hit. With the ballad, the trio managed to land a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. In Europe, however, they were never represented in the charts.

After a last single single, they disappeared from the charts again in 1991. Betty performed for a short period of time with three new singers as a quartet under the old name, but in 1992 the formation finally separated.

In 2005, Betty LeBron reappeared as Betty Dee . She sang on the dance single My Body, Tu Cuerpo by Dynamix (Dynamix presents Sweet Sensation).
