The Swiss Funds & Asset Management Association (SFAMA, until June 30, 2013 Swiss Funds Association SFA) is an industry organization for the Swiss fund and asset management industry.

history

SFAMA was founded in 1992 with headquarters in Basel . Its membership includes Swiss fund management companies , representatives of foreign collective investment schemes and asset managers of collective investment schemes. These cover more than 95% of the fund assets sold in Switzerland. SFAMA is an active member of the European investment association European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) in Brussels and the international Investment Funds Association (IIFA) in Montreal .

Goals and Strategy

The SFAMA represents the interests of its members at home and abroad. She is committed to the framework conditions in the production, asset management and distribution of collective investment schemes. SFAMA promotes the reputation of the industry as well as trust in collective investment schemes. She positions herself as a conversation partner towards authorities, associations, politics, the media and the public.

The association is open to all fund management companies, representatives of foreign collective investment schemes and asset managers of collective investment schemes, regardless of their domicile and sector. It differentiates between active and passive members.

The organs of SFAMA are the General Assembly , the Board , the office and the specialized committees. The General Assembly is the supreme body of SFAMA. The ordinary general assembly takes place once a year, an extraordinary one by resolution of the board. The board of directors, consisting of a maximum of nine members, is elected by the general assembly for three years. In turn, he elects the President and Vice-President from among his number. The board determines the association's strategy.

The office in Basel implements the association strategy as well as the individual resolutions. It is a competence center for information about members and a professional interlocutor for authorities, associations, politicians, the media and the public. The specialist committees develop the basis for decision-making. SFAMA currently has nine specialist committees (Alternative Investments, ETF & Indexed Investments, Real Estate Funds, Processes & Operations, Legal & Compliance, Legal & Compliance Asset Management, Risk Management, Taxes and Sales & Marketing).
