Swiss Venture Club

The Swiss Venture Club (SVC) is a not-for-profit association for the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Switzerland . It awards the most important entrepreneurship award in Switzerland.

Goals and purpose

According to its statutes, the SVC aims to promote entrepreneurship, especially SMEs. The strategic goal is to strengthen Switzerland as a business location by creating a platform that networks entrepreneurs, enables knowledge transfer and brings together specialists.

history

On February 19, 2001 the “Venture Club of Berne” was founded. The board consisted of the initiators Hans-Ulrich Müller (President), Elisabeth Zölch (Vice-President) and Beat Brechbühl (Secretary). In 2003 the association was renamed the Swiss Venture Club in order to express the association's anchoring and importance throughout Switzerland in its name.

Members and structure

The club has a little over 2,700 members and is anchored in seven economic regions across Switzerland. He differentiates between individual and corporate memberships. The association is chaired by the initiator and board member Hans-Ulrich Müller. Sabine Herren is responsible for the management. Regional managers are responsible for planning and organizing local events in seven regions of Switzerland, with a core team ensuring that all activities are coordinated. An honorary patronage with patrons from politics (including Federal Councilor Johann Schneider-Ammann and former Federal Councilor Flavio Cotti ), finance and business completes the network. The SVC is divided into five areas of activity.

  • Prix ​​SVC: Awarding of the entrepreneur prizes.
  • Education: practice-oriented events on SME-relevant topics with speakers from business and science.
  • Finance: intermediary agency for the procurement of venture capital for companies.

Entrepreneur awards

The Prix SVC (also known as SVC Entrepreneur Prize) is awarded in three language and seven economic regions of Switzerland. It takes place every two years in the following regions: Espace Mittelland, Central Switzerland, Northern Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Svizzera italiana, Suisse romande and the Greater Zurich Area. An independent jury of experts examines 80–150 companies per region. In the final at the Prix SVC, six winners will choose the SME that has demonstrated innovation and entrepreneurship and can demonstrate sustainable success. In addition to the financial performance record, the evaluation criteria also include the regional anchoring of the company, as well as the ecological behavior, the quality of management and the creation of new jobs on site. The prizewinners of the Prix SVC are automatically nominated for the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young . On March 6, 2013, the Prix SVC was awarded for the 10th time in the Espace Mittelland region. The winner was Emch Aufzüge AG from Bern.
