Elisabeth Zölch Bührer (formerly Zölch-Balmer ; born April 24, 1951 ; resident in Mühleberg , Schelten and Bern ) is a Swiss politician . The former municipal, national and government councilor of the SVP switched to the BDP in 2008 .

Life

Zölch studied law at the University of Bern and graduated in 1977 with the state examination as an advocate . From 1978 to 1983 she headed the legal department of the municipal administration of the canton of Bern . From 1984 to 1992 she was the first secretary of the municipal administration. She then ran her own practice for legal , organizational and strategic advice until she was elected to the government council . She is a member of the Board of Directors of the IT service company 4uGroup AG and Vice President of the Swiss Venture Club . Since August 2007 she has been President of the Employers 'Association of the Swiss Watch Industry and since 2009 a member of the Executive Committee of the Swiss Employers' Association .

Elisabeth Zölch was married to the media lawyer and ice hockey official Franz A. Zölch until 2005 . She has been married to the politician and lobbyist Gerold Bührer since 2012 .

She began her political career in 1977 as a councilor in Mühlethurnen . Zölch was a national councilor from 1987 to 1994 . From 1994 to 2006 she was a member of the government of the Canton of Bern and headed the economics department. Zölch was actively involved in founding the BDP Bern. She is one of the 240 founding members.
