history
The corporation was founded in 1986 with the aim of building an online database for the collection of judgments. Swisslex 1.0 was presented to the Swiss legal community in 1987. This year the company started with an initial offer that was limited to collections of decisions and individual magazines. Swisslex 1.0 was operated on a mainframe solution and access was via a telephone-based input and receiving device (Minitel). In 1997, Thomson Legal and Regulatory joined the company as a shareholder as part of a restructuring carried out by the shareholders Schulthess Juristische Medien AG and Python & Peter Rechtsanwälte . The offer was first made available on the Internet in 1999 . In 2007, Thomson sold its stake to the two remaining shareholders, Schulthess Juristische Medien AG and the Geneva-based law firm Python & Peter, as part of a global portfolio streamlining. In 2009, Stämpfli Verlag AG finally took a one-third stake in the company and became an equal partner in the shareholders alongside Schulthess Juristische Medien AG and Python & Peter Rechtsanwälte. On July 25, 2011, Swisslex presented a completely new portal solution and in 2015 the company's own search engine went live.
