The Swisslog headquartered in Buchs AG is an international company with Swiss roots, as a general contractor on integrated automation solutions for warehouses and distribution centers specializes. Swisslog employs around 2,100 people in around 20 countries. The company is part of the German robotics and automation group KUKA . Swisslog was listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange until July 31, 2015.
history
Swisslog has its origins in the company Sprecher + Schuh AG , which was founded in 1900 in Aarau, Switzerland.
Initially, the company was mainly active in power distribution. The core activities at that time were sold to the French Alstom group (high and medium voltage, 1985) and the American Rockwell / Allen-Bradley (low voltage, 1993) from the mid-1980s. Instead, the company focused more and more on today's core business, automation technology. Industrial companies such as Translift, Digitron and OWL joined the group through acquisitions.
In 1994, Sprecher + Schuh was renamed Swisslog. Swisslog then continued to develop into a global provider of automation solutions for hospitals, storage and distribution centers.
In December 2014, KUKA , a global provider of automation solutions, took over Swisslog as part of a public purchase offer. Swisslog has been fully integrated into the KUKA Group since August 2015.
At the end of 2016, the Chinese Midea Group acquired the majority of shares in the KUKA Group .
The Swisslog Healthcare division has been focusing on health facilities and hospitals with an independent brand since the end of 2019. With the Swisslog brand, Swisslog Logistics Automation aims at the areas of intralogistics, production logistics and supply chain.
Products & Service
The Swisslog portfolio offers, among other things, conveyor technology, automated storage and retrieval machines, palletizing and depalletizing systems, fully automatic single item and box picking and Swisslog's SynQ software. In addition, Swisslog offers services such as consulting, concept studies, project implementation and customer service.
