The switch plus AG , based in Zurich is a Swiss domain -Registrar and Web Hosting -Unternehmen. It offers services around the registration of domain names including e-mail addresses and website builders for companies and private individuals.
history
As part of the emerging market liberalization in the field of registrars, SWITCH , the operator of the scientific network of Swiss universities and the official registry of .ch and .li domain names, founded the subsidiary switchplus in 2009 to offer customers additional domain extensions and to be able to offer additional web and mail services.
In 2016 switchplus was accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). With over 400,000 registered domain names for around 130,000 customers, switchplus has the highest market share of all .ch and .li registrars in Switzerland.
In December 2018, SWITCH sold switchplus to the Belgian Combell Group.
Jonas Dhaenens. Founder and CEO of Combell, is an investor in European technology companies. a. named “IT Person of the Year 2019” in Belgium. Together with Switchplus, the group serves 2,000,000 customers in Europe.
On the occasion of the 10th company anniversary in 2019, switchplus announced the name change of the company under the new name Swizzonic.
Climate neutral hosting
switchplus guarantees its customers "clean web hosting". By purchasing so-called emission reduction certificates, unavoidable CO 2 emissions are compensated and fed into the power grid.
Products and services
The product portfolio includes services for the internet presence of a private person or SME . The services offered by switchplus are divided into the two areas of domain business and hosting business, with the latter comprising the products web space, website builder, e-commerce platform, mail server, cloud-based business solutions (Smart @ Work) and managed WordPress hosting (PRESENCE Basic) included.
