from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sydney Ross Singer is an American biologist, medical scientist, anthropologist, and author.

Singer studied biology at the University of Utah until 1979 , then biochemistry and anthropology at Duke University and finally medicine at the University of Texas . With his wife, the medical doctor Soma Grismajer , he founded the Institute for the Study of Culturogenic Disease , whose aim is to find connections between lifestyle and illness, and people through targeted changes in their lifestyle ( self studies ) to actively participate in preservation and empower them to restore their health.

In his work Challenging Animal Labs and Winning: Respect for Compassion in Medical School, which he wrote during his studies at the University of Texas, he took a critical look at animal experiments in medicine. During field studies in Fiji, in collaboration with Soma Grismajer, the book Dressed To Kill was written in 1995 about the relationship between wearing bras and the development of breast cancer.

Its continuation with the title Get It Off! Understanding the Cause of Breast Pain, Cysts, and Cancer contains the piece A Little Breast Play , which composer Leonard Lehrman set to music under the title The Booby Trap (WP 2001). In other writings, Singer and Grismajer dealt with the influence of the sleeping position on the development of diseases. They are also involved in species and animal protection.
