Sylvia Diebner

Sylvia Diebner (* 1947 in Berlin ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Life

Sylvia Diebner studied Classical Archeology, Art History and Ancient History in Berlin, Rome and Göttingen , where she received her doctorate in 1977 . In 1977/78 she received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . From 1977 she worked with numerous interruptions at the Rome department of the German Archaeological Institute . From 2000 until her retirement in 2011 she was the head of the photo library there .

Her main research interests include rural urban sculpture from the imperial era in Italy, urban Roman topography, the history of the German Archaeological Institute and the reception of antiquities during Italian fascism .
