Symbister Ness
Symbister Ness is a headland that extends south and west of Symbister , the capital of the island of Whalsay , part of the Scottish Shetlands . In the north it marks the southern end of Linga Sound , a waterway that separates Whalsay from the island of West Linga , in the west and south it crosses into the Dury Voe and the open North Sea . In the southeast Symbister Ness is bounded by a lake ( loch ), the Loch of Sandwick . The highest point is the 31 meter high Ward of Symbister Ness, on the summit of which there are the remains of a cairn from the Neolithic .
