Symbolic Composer (also: SCOM) is an environment based on the LISP programming language for the algorithmic composition of music . The system was originally developed by Peter Stone (Tonality Systems) in the early 1990s.

Symbolic Composer provides more than 1000 algorithms and mathematical functions for the creation of music. The system is popular among experimental and avant-garde composers around the world. Little programming knowledge, but a good ability to abstract, is required to be able to work effectively with this system.
