from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Symeon (also Simeon , mentioned 1237 to 1247) was pastor and provost in Cölln and Berlin and the first historically transmitted person of these two places.

Symeon was named as pastor of Cölln (Symeon plebanus de Colonia) on October 28, 1237 in a document between the Margrave of Brandenburg and the Bishop of Brandenburg . This is the oldest surviving mention of Cölln. On January 26, 1244, he was referred to as Provost of Berlin (dominus Symeon de Berlin prepositus) , with the first recorded mention of Berlin.

On April 29, 1247, Simeon was named provost of Cölln (Simeon, prepositus de Colonia juxta Berlin) in two documents . No further information has been obtained about him.
