The synagogue in Arnstadt , a district town in the middle of Thuringia , was built in 1913 and destroyed by the National Socialists in 1938.

history

The medieval synagogue stood behind the house at 17 Erfurter Strasse.

Between 1874 and 1877 a prayer room was set up in the house at Ritterstrasse 7.

In 1913 the new synagogue was built on a 600 m² site at Krappgartenstrasse 47, opposite the Church of the Assumption, according to the plans of the architect Heinrich Martin Schwarz (1885–1945) and inaugurated on September 26, 1913.

During the November pogrom in 1938 , it was burned down on November 10 by members of the SA . The Jewish community of Arnstadt had to pay for the leveling of the ruins.
