Ruin of the synagogue

The synagogue in Chyše , a town in the Karlovarský kraj region in the Czech Republic , was built in 1848 right next to the late medieval fortifications on the southern outskirts.

The new synagogue replaced an older, wooden previous building. The Jewish school was housed in the neoclassical synagogue building until 1870.

The synagogue was used for church services until 1938 . After 1945 the synagogue building fell into disrepair. Partial demolition took place later, only the basement remained.
