Synagogue (Besançon)

Synagogue in Besançon

The synagogue in Besançon is a synagogue in the French department of Doubs . It was built in the years 1869/70 according to the plans of the architect Pierre Marnotte in an oriental style . During the occupation in World War II , a Wehrmacht captain placed the building under his protection. The synagogue is on the Quai de Strasbourg; it was included in the Inventaire général du patrimoine culturel.
