Synagogue (Pidhajzi)
The synagogue in Pidhajzi in the Ukrainian oblast of Ternopil was built in the 17th century. Today it is a ruin.
history
The synagogue was probably built between 1621 and 1648 as a military synagogue . Over the years, extensions have been added to the sides. After the murder of the Jewish population in World War II , it was used as a warehouse for a few years. Today it stands empty and decays.
architecture
The main building (the men's prayer room) is almost square with the outer sides of 30.60 m × 30.40 m. It is surrounded by one- and two-story extensions. On the east side there are 2 wall supports at the corners. The extensions on the south and east sides date from the time after 1945, when the building was a warehouse, while the others were added soon after the building was completed.
The synagogue has long, narrow windows with pointed arches.

Jewish emigrants from Pidhajzi built the Podhajcer Shul in New York in the late 19th century .
