Synagogue Gemen (Borken)
The synagogue in Gemen , a district of Borken in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1912. The synagogue was on Ahauser Strasse.

The synagogue had a roofed entrance area, which was flanked by two protruding round towers. In these stairways led to the women's gallery . The towers were each crowned by a Star of David . The tablets of the law were placed on the top of the gable of the synagogue .
time of the nationalsocialism
During the November pogroms in 1938 , the synagogue was burned down by the National Socialists from Gemen. Months later the ruin was torn down.
Commemoration
Since 1988 a memorial stone has been commemorating the Jewish community with the inscription: “We let it happen and did not consider the consequences. Did we learn from it? At this point, the synagogue of the Jewish community was destroyed by arson on November 9/10, 1938. The city of Borken commemorates its Jewish fellow citizens who became victims of the National Socialist tyranny through emigration and displacement, deportation and murder. "
