Most Synagogue (Czech Republic)
The synagogue in Most (German Brüx ), a town in Ústecký kraj in the Czech Republic , was built in 1872/73. It was located on the north-eastern edge of the old town, on a piece of land on the Ringstrasse next to the Evangelical Church, just east of what was then Bahnhofstrasse. The area of the old town was covered by open-cast lignite mining in the 1970s and removed except for small remains; the former location of the synagogue is now in the area of the flooded open-cast mine.
The arched synagogue had three entrances on the street side. The gable was crowned by the tablets of the law and the Star of David . After the occupation of Brüx by German troops in October 1938, the synagogue was burned down during the November pogroms .
