System 32

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The system 32 is a Möbelkonstruktions- and manufacturing principle in the production of knock-down furniture . The row holes at a distance of 32 mm in the cabinet sides are characteristic. In addition to system 32, there are other systems that are less common (system 25, ip20, etc.).

Drilling the system 32-hole row on a CNC machine

System 32 developed by hardware , machine and furniture manufacturers serves to standardize component dimensions on the one hand and production processes on the other. This results in firmly defined sizes of the furniture sides in height and depth / width. The design features are:

  • Distance between the holes in the row of holes = 32 mm
  • Hole diameter = 5 mm
  • Distance between the front row of holes and the front edge = 37 mm
  • Distance between the front and rear row of holes = multiple of 32 mm

With matching fittings, furniture sides can be connected to floors and back walls to form carcasses and cabinet walls and fitted with mounting plates for door hinges, drawer guides, clothes rail bearings, shelf supports and other cabinet fittings that are also tailored to the system.

The following is favorable for efficient production :

  • Distance of the first hole to the lower edge of the cabinet = distance of the last hole to the upper edge of the cabinet: Simplification when setting up (setting) row hole drilling machines
  • For the use of carcase system connectors: Distance between the lowest and uppermost hole to the respective outer edge = material thickness minus the specifications of the hardware manufacturer, often half the material thickness of the shelves
  • Distance of the rear row of holes to the rear edge / rear wall = 37 mm: no retrofitting of the drill
or distance of the rear row of holes to the inner edge of the rear wall = 37 mm: facilitates the assembly of rear wall supports
