System under test

System Under Test (SUT) denotes the tested system in a test scenario .

Additional test tools such as simulators or additional test software are not part of the SUT. The SUT can be part of a test system, but it can also be a productive system.

This term system under test is particularly common in software tests . The system can be a hardware system (e.g. a PC) or a software system.
