Systematics of locusts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The systematics of the locusts is based on the compilation of Sigfrid Ingrisch in Zootaxa and the orthopter database Orthoptera Species File Online .

In the past, the Orthoptera under the German name Geradflügler included the locusts (Saltatoria), the earwigs (Dermaptera) and the cockroaches (Blattoptera). In the meantime, only locusts are represented in the international system of the order Orthoptera. They are divided into the phylogenetically younger short-feeler terrors (Caelifera) and the much older long-feeler terrors (Ensifera).
