The TÜV Südwest was a technical inspection association based in Filderstadt and Mannheim .

history

On January 6, 1866, the Society for the Monitoring and Insurance of Steam Boilers was founded in Mannheim after a boiler explosion had occurred in the city a year earlier. In 1875, the Württemberg steam boiler inspection association was founded in Stuttgart .

The Mannheimer Verein operated from 1883 to 1921 as the Baden Society for the Monitoring of Steam Boilers , from 1922 as the Badischer Auditing Association and after the Second World War as the Technical Monitoring Association Mannheim . In 1964 the name was changed to the Technical Monitoring Association Baden .

From 1911 the Stuttgart Association was called the Württemberg Audit Association and, after the Second World War, the Stuttgart Technical Monitoring Association .

On January 1, 1990, the Technical Monitoring Association Baden (TÜV Baden) in Mannheim and the Technical Monitoring Association Stuttgart (TÜV Stuttgart) in Filderstadt merged to form the Technical Monitoring Association Southwest Germany (TÜV Südwest). The two headquarters were retained.

In 1996, TÜV Südwest and TÜV Bayern / Sachsen merged to form TÜV Süddeutschland.
