TI-InterActive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TI-InterActive is commercial software that was developed by Texas Instruments several years ago. This software integrates a word processor with a computer algebra system (functions like Voyage 200 ). You can also see a strong reference to the philosophy of the TI graphic calculator, which is expressed in particular by the general scope of functions and the menu structure.

One of TI-InterActive's strengths is its document structure. All definitions visible in a document have an effect on subsequent calculations. If you delete or change the definition of a function or variable, all subsequent calculations, graphs or tables are recalculated immediately. This way you always have a coherent document. In this respect, TI-InterActive differs significantly from other CAS systems such as Derive, MuPad, Maple etc., which either do not ensure this consistency of the document at all or only after entering a recalculate command. The command syntax and mode of operation of TI-Interactive corresponds roughly to that of the CAS computers, TI89 and Voyage 200 from TI. In this respect, TI-InterActive cannot be viewed as a further development of Derive .

Like Derive, TI-InterActive has not been maintained by Texas Instruments since 2004.

Texas Instruments currently seems to be investing all its capacities in the further development of TI-Nspire . This program, which is available on handhelds as well as software, offers a higher degree of networking of graphics, tables and calculations. However, the program is based on the presentation of the pocket calculator, which does not seem very attractive on the computer. In addition, TI-Nspire does not offer the option of integrating calculations and graphics in a text.
