TISM (an acronym for This Is Serious Mum ) was an Australian alternative rock band . It was founded in Melbourne in 1982 . The band was one of the most famous and commercially successful underground bands in Australia. Nevertheless, the identity of the seven members has remained unknown to this day.

Career

TISM made their first appearances at radio stations in their homeland with their single Defecate On My Face . It is typical of most of the band's later compositions: uncompromising melodies paired with lyrics full of dry humor. In 1983 the band gave their first and last concert. All other appearances were called reunion concerts.

In order to keep their identities a secret, the band often appears in balaclavas or exuberantly decorated costumes. There is wild speculation about the true identity of the members. Most assume that the musicians from TISM are members of other bands. In the meantime, the band created alter egos that reflect their sarcastic humor and parody.

The band's most successful album to date was Machiavelli and the Four Seasons / New York, London, Paris, Springvale in 1996 , on which TISM targets almost all elements of pop culture and makes references to the works of Dostoevsky , Shelley and Hitler .

After releasing a best-of album in 2002, the band officially broke up, but kept coming back together for smaller gigs. In 2004 new material appeared under the title The White Albun .

The group had the greatest success in Germany with the single Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me from the album The White Albun , which reached number 63 in the German charts on July 4, 2005 . Sony BMG Germany previously became aware of the music video created by Bernard Derriman in Flash after it became a hit on the World Wide Web and was or is still being seen on popular websites such as Albino Blacksheep . The cartoon was originally the winner of a competition initiated by the band. In the humorous music video, a depressed rabbit plays the main role, which, according to the lyrics of the song, expresses its grief that every other rabbit has had sex more often than itself .
